Career Excavation Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Account information: your name, email address and sign-in information supplied through our account provider.

Career material: text extracted from your résumé and optional supporting documents. We store the extracted text but not the original uploaded files.

Interview and report content: your responses, the questions asked, AI-generated section summaries, your report and AI working notes used to prepare it. We also receive any feedback or support messages you send.

Technical records: activity dates and times, IP address, browser information and service logs used to operate and secure the service.

Payment records: Stripe processes your payment information. We receive transaction details needed to administer your purchase, but do not store your full payment card number.

Do not provide private or confidential information about other people, or confidential information from a current or former employer that you are not authorized to disclose. Use care when sharing your own information and include only what is relevant to career reflection. When describing personal constraints, state the practical limit (for example, “I can’t travel more than a few days a month”) without the reason behind it, and do not include diagnoses, treatment details, medical records or other health information about yourself or anyone else. Information you provide in your documents or answers is processed with the rest of your career material.

2. How we use information

We use information to create and maintain your account, conduct the guided interview, generate and store your report, let you resume your session, process purchases, respond to requests, troubleshoot problems, protect the service and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell or rent personal information, use it for advertising or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use your documents, responses or reports to train AI models.

3. AI processing and voice input

We use Anthropic’s commercial API to generate interview responses and reports. Document text and conversation content are sent to Anthropic for this purpose. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use API inputs and outputs to train its models by default. We do not authorize training on your content. Anthropic handles this information under its applicable commercial data-handling terms, including retention rules and exceptions for safety enforcement and legal requirements.

No person conducts your interview or reviews the report before delivery.

If you use voice input, your browser converts speech to text. Its provider may process audio under its own privacy terms. Career Excavation receives the resulting text and does not record or store audio.

4. Providers and other disclosures

Service providers process information needed for account creation and sign-in, website hosting, data storage, AI processing and payment processing. Anthropic processes career content as described above. Stripe processes payments.

We do not provide your career records to employers, recruiters or advertisers. We may disclose information when required by law, to respond to valid legal process, or where reasonably necessary to protect safety, investigate misuse or protect legal rights.

If the business is sold, merged or reorganized, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and privacy commitments. We will provide any legally required notice.

5. Access and report sharing

The service is self-service. Company access to stored career records is limited to legitimate operational needs, such as responding to your request, resolving a technical problem, investigating security issues or meeting legal obligations. Providers process information to deliver their services as described above.

Your report is available through your account. Career Excavation has no built-in public report-sharing feature. You may download and share your own report; recipients’ handling of that copy is outside our control.

6. Retention and deletion

We retain account information, extracted document text, interview content, section summaries and reports until you delete them or the service closes. You can delete your account and all records at any time by choosing Delete my records from the account menu. You can also email hello@henryjane.co from the email address on your account. We may verify your identity before acting; we will delete your account and records from active systems within 10 days after verifying your request and confirm by email. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone, so download your report first if you wish to keep it.

Limited records may be retained where needed for legal obligations, payment accounting, security or resolving disputes. Copies in our database provider’s backups expire within seven days. Our AI provider deletes the content it processes within 30 days, subject to its exceptions for safety review and legal requirements. Any retained copies remain subject to applicable access restrictions and are not used to continue your career session.

7. Your choices and privacy requests

You choose which optional materials and details to provide. You can download your report and delete your records through Delete my records in the account menu. You can also contact us to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information. Depending on your state and the laws applicable to us, you may have additional privacy rights. We will handle requests in accordance with applicable law and may need to verify your identity. Contact hello@henryjane.co to make a request or challenge our response.

8. Security and cookies

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit and at rest through our providers and restricted access to stored records. No online service can guarantee complete security. We will provide security-incident notices as required by law.

We use cookies needed for sign-in and operation. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics tracking or session replay. We do not track users across unrelated websites for advertising. Browser Do Not Track signals do not change these practices.

9. Age and processing locations

Career Excavation is intended only for adults 18 and older who reside in the United States. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe someone under 18 has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.

Henry Jane LLC operates in the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate. Applicable privacy protections may differ by location.

10. Changes and contact

We will notify you of material changes by email or a notice on the service before they take effect and obtain additional consent where required. The date above identifies this version.
